I'm Geoff.
I have a metal panel under my desk that is connected via a 13 amp plug to my mains ground. I installed it due to myocarditis caused by viral infection. It has left me with many problems, not least tissue inflammation and swollen lower legs and feet. Aside from having a cooling effect on my feet I do believe that it has helped to reduce inflammation somewhat.

My immediate reaction is to question that there are many free electrons available because it seems that the earth is composed of atoms bonded into molecules; why should there be an abundance of free electrons?. But I did not read the whole thing.
