    Default Sut Rothwell..??

    Hello from Italy ..
and I want to ask your opinion on which one
of the 2 StepUp models Rothwell MCX or MCL is better for my two audio cartridges
    Technica are: AT33SA and AT33EV.
    (their technical differences are subtle).
My pre-phono is an Accuphase C27.
    Thanks.5

0.6mV to 0.9mV then the MCX according to this but have a read anyway as it's interesting regardless.

I have an MCX and it is very good value for money and it very good sonically, no colouration to the sound in my opinion, hope that helps.
Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

A friend who did the math told me that the turn ratio of the MCL is too high to be ideal, and that the MCX sut is better.
Keep in mind that my 2 "audio technica" heads have outputs of 0.3mv, and 0.4mv
Keep in mind that the technical boundary line between these 2 sut Rothwell is thin, if you are wrong model the sound is affected.
// Sorry .. the way I speak English .. I hope to make myself understood ..

Just so you know my phono stage amp the LFD MMC is MM or MC, it is a highly respected phono stage whether used for MM or MC, however to switch between the two requires desoldering/re-soldering to tracks on the board inside, the designer being a purist does not believe in using switches if at all possible. As I switch between an MC and MM reasonably regularly I decided to find a SUT to use with a MC with the LFD permanently set to MM, and just unplug the SUT when using the MM. The SUT is easily as good as the LFD switched to MC, in fact I would say it has slightly more open soundstage and crisper detail in the top end.

Both have outputs of 0.4mv and 0.3mv, I would have thought the MCL would be better.
According to Rothwell the MCL is suitable for cartridges of between 0.2mv and 0.7mv.

Just to add I use the AT33EV with a Puresound T10 on the 1-18 ratio and it's a great match.
