Default Anyone made a Frugelhorn Lite speaker kit ?

In an attempt to fill in some time during the CV lockdown I've decided to build up a pair of speakers from a kit, the Frugelhorn Lite slim floor standers, I'll be using in them the Mark Audio Alpair 5 Generation 3 full range drivers. I have ordered the kit and drivers from KJF Audio and should have them in 3 days time. I'd be interested to know if there are any forum members who have a pair of these speakers either with the same or different drivers as I realise there are quite a few options available. Would appreciate opinions on sound quality, bass response etc. Thanks.

Good luck. I have a horn speaker project to start, but can't get materials at the moment. Not buying any that I haven't looked at personally.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Well I managed to get started on the build yesterday, here's a few pics.
Running in the drivers before they get installed in the cabinets.

Flatpack panels not including the internal bracing/horn.

Panels taped in position to check joint alignment.
    Part of behind driver damping.
Top, bottom, one side panel and front baffle of both cabinets have been glued, just waiting on arrival of some extra long binding posts, ones I bought originally are too short, need to install them and the connecting cables before the final panels are glued. If I had very small hands it could possibly done through the driver aperture, unfortunately I haven't.

I've built the Frugelhorn and Frugelhorn XL kits before but yours is the first "lite" build I've seen, very cute. Re long binding posts, I've used these before but you have to make sure they are very, very tight. The first time I used them they came a little loose and of course they are impossible to tighten once you've glued up the cabinets. Alternatives are to get a plate and posts - HiFi Collective do a nice one from Janzen or mount the posts behind the driver where you can get at them if they do loosen.

    Have fun!

Ian, the binding posts I'm getting are via KJF Audio (should have bought them in the first place) and they have washer with a protrusion that fits into a machined notch in the holes in the baffle, these prevent the posts rotating and coming loose.

Set about completing the build today as the binding posts arrived this morning.
They were expensive at £30 for 4 but I have to say they are the weightiest and best engineered I've ever seen so are worth the money.
Here's a cab in the final stages.
    And one I completed earlier.

Once the first cabinet was completed I couldn't resist the temptation to install the driver and have a listen, good job my Cambridge CXA60 has got a balance control so I could funnel all the music into one channel.
My initial impressions are somewhat tinged with awe, I find it astonishing how a speaker with a 3" driver can produce such a big sound, particularly as it's only coming from a single speaker, sure it's not going to make the floor shake, but what bass there is, is fast and tight and surprisingly weighty, pretty obvious the designer of the Frugelhorn really knows what he's doing. I would estimate bass has decent output down to about 55-60hz, possibility it could go lower with more run in hours on the driver, Mark Audio state it can take up to 100 hours playing time to reach optimum, mine have only had about 15 hours so far so there could be better to come. Hopefully be able to get the second speaker hooked up and playing before the end of the day. Once I've had a good listen to the stereo pair it will be time to strip out the drivers, sand down any rough edges and get them painted.
