Ryobi 2 stroke brush cutter problem

I have an old Ryobi RBC40 SB, and it has started to bog down at high revs when hot when giving it the throttle.
Does anybody have experience with these, and if so, is it likely to be just a carb adjustment, or something more involved?

Have you given it any sort of overhaul/deep clean Kevin?

Could be carb/main jet blocked a bit/sticking but worth checking the plug and lead too.

When it bogs, is it like running out of fuel, or like the choke is still on (4 stroking)?

First things first:

1. Clean, or new, spark plug.
2. Check, clean air filter.
3. Check, clean fuel filter/pickup
4. Check exhaust for blockage

I have a McCulloch petrol strimmer that was doing something like this. I took the carb apart and inspected the diaphragm and it was split. I got a service kit from a local chainsaw seller/service place and cleaned all the carb out and replaced the diaphragm. That was about 3-4 years ago and it is still ok.

My Honda GX31 was doing that , now it won't rev at all , Carb fubared , Took it apart and its all gummed up , crisp diagrams

Thanks for the feedback.

I serviced it at the end of last season, and drained the fuel out.
Today, I stripped it down and blew out all of the jets, cleaned up the mating surfaces and rebuilt it with some blue hylomar on the mating faces.

The only thing I did not check was the fuel filter. I removed that earlier, and there is a small split where the pipe connects.
It has to be this, as when there is a full tank, it runs fine. As soon as the level drops, it plays up. I will try and bodge it up until a new filter arrives.

Could be a blocked breather on the fuel tank. This may just be a 'pinhole' in the filler cap, but if it's blocked it can cause the symptoms described.

Checked that as well. Blown out using an air line.
