Hi all,
I have retired from being a professional delivery skipper. Before I started sailing I owned a small audio retail outlet for 5 years which I simply closed down after making no money.
I bought a sailboat that became my home for the next 32 years. I lived on her in South Africa as my base and then moved boats around the world. I used the time at sea to study up on acoustics and speaker design.
I moved to Ireland 3 years ago and have finally been able to put a system together. Spent the first 2 years trying to keep the rain outside our leaky little cottage.
Before I left SA I kept a lookout on the local mag for some bargains. I snagged a Wadia 15 and Mark Levinson 27.5 The ML did not like being stored in a damp room, and let me know this by blowing up spectacularly.
My system now consists of Oppo 103, Bryston BDP-1, Wadia 15, DIY valve line-stage, DIY power amp and DIY OB speakers. My wife and I enjoy a variety of music but mostly jazz. With the newly installed bass traps and other treatments our listening pleasure has hugely improved.
Cheers,
Charles
