Default Van den Hul MC One Special cartridge

For sale, low hours VdH MC One Special.

Bought new last year, but hardly used, it has only played 76 sides, so less than 30 hours of use. When ordered from VdH, this particular cartridge was specified by Definitive Audio for use with modern SME arms, so it has a highish compliance (for a MC) compatible with arms having an effective mass from 8 to 14 grams, thus suiting light to medium mass tonearms. Output is a healthy 0.75 mV, and it tracks perfectly at 1.4 grams, requiring about only half that value when setting biasing. I had excellent results on a SME V, using a 20dB (10x) SUT, where the presentation was dynamic and quick, with a good dose of 'heft', but still having a good, realistic tone/timbre. New, this costs around £1350, I am offering it for sale at £850 incl. UK delivery.

I have one of those and can confirm it is indeed an excellent cartridge. I agree with your findings regarding VTF and bias setting.

    Good luck with the sale.

    Thanks, Barry.

This particular cartridge is a 'good 'un', lively and musical ... selected only after audition at Definitive.

Will work beautifully with arms from Rega, Nottingham, Michell, Hadcock, Audio Note, SME, Jelco, etc.

There isn't much info readily available on this cartridge, but this article contains an interesting review of the MC One Special, before gushing over the two and a half grand Frog Gold

Happy to answer any questions, just PM me.

There was a favourable review in Hi-Fi World magazine. Can't remember the issue number, but I have it somewhere. Will try to find it for to you.

    Good news Peter.

The new owner should be pleased with the purchase.
