I am now old enough to have been with a lot of people at their time of passing, Both people who believed and tried to follow God and Christ and those who spent their lives rejecting any kind of relationship with God.
In the end every single one has asked me to pray with them or over them. Go figure huh? So many times the same comments "I prayed but God didn't let my wife or husband live", God owes us nothing!
He created us and a perfect world for us. He saw we could not live a life with out sin, and sacrificed his only son to pay for our sins that separate us from him.
Our wants, needs and desires rarely have anything to do with Gods will but, when it dose those prayers do get answered. We are all loved by God and he often uses even very flawed people to do his will on Earth.
I believe he sometime dose this to make a point. A murderer turns around and leads people to God, seeks to help the family of the person he took from them. Our church spends a lot of resources going to prisons to bring people back to God. In the End of all of our lives what matters is are you moving closer to God or further away ? And He will ask "Do I know You"? and "what have you done to make me known"?

If you think God is not near us all the time and close by Just pray and ask him to work through you to do his will.
Before to long you will be called on maybe to help someone. Some one may invite you to a event or some life changing thing.
Because you are not putting any of your own conditions on it.
Giving up ones own self , having faith ,wanting God to show up in your life ,giving up ones own wants is key. Until you've done this you really don't know anything.
Another thing is blaming God for pain or suffering caused by us people. He gave us free will . Don't blame God for the sins of the world he gave everyone a choice and no one is guaranteed another day of life, each day is a gift .
He also gives us Mercy and Grace we can not earn, but must seek.

I have never seen die an atheist yet, a lot happens in your heart when you know you probably won't live to see the next sunrise.
Just food for thought. One of our pastors who is going to China and expets to die there.

It's just crazy Marco, sad people wait till their final hour then suddenly get it. Death bed conversions.
It's like oh, better rethink God all of a sudden, people trying to tell me my hole life and now I understand, then dead.
It's not much effort to give God though an hour or two a day, he will show up .Bayside church goes out and helps the community, it is a church that serves others.

One of our pastors just left for China to help them. He fully expects he will die there.

What kind of help would that be? If he has no medical training he'll just be in the way.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Guys,

Please remember the thread-crapping rules we have in place. I don't mind a bit of goodnatured piss-taking or banter, but if I see any blatant or disrespectful anti-religion posts here they'll be quickly removed. This thread exists for people with a religious faith, or leanings that way, to comment and offer their sentiments on the current crisis.

As I said before, if you've got nothing nice (or constructive) to say on that topic, then say nowt, and apply the approach of 'nothing to see here, move on'. This is NOT the place to practice your anti-religious agendas.

If the people he's seeking to help, mate, are religious (or have a faith), then he'll be of great help to them spiritually, and in terms of praying together with them, all of which would provide great comfort to the ill or dying.
