    Default Project Tube Box DS2

I'm looking to get another phono stage, i've got the original Tube Box and a rather nice Firebottle OTP, but came across one of these and was quite impressed with its flexibility with regard to inputs, outputs, loading etc.

    But are they any good?

All of the Project kit that I have owned or listened to has been very good, and great value for money. Don't see why the DS2 shouldn't be just fine.

A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

I'd agree that the Project gear i already own is very good for the money, i guess what i'm asking is if anyone has one what do they think? and what alternatives for the money should i be considering

Have a read of this, https://audiofi.net/2019/04/pro-ject...ush-ful-phono/. I have been told they a very good for the price and a major benefit is its flexibilty, so if you have several cartridges and like to swap about you can match it well. Usually you have to pay a lot more for this flexibilty. If you get one then let us know how you find it.

I have the ds2 digital, has a dac, phono stage, optical in, usb in, Bluetooth, line in, very good indeed. Also has headphone out that works really well with my Grado 325, although I don't use headphones in the listening room. Some of the little phono boxes are poor but can you expect for £30

I've just received one of these. I primarily wanted it for the fact it had two outputs, but it has impressed me so far. Certainly a marked stepup up from the phono stage in the Rega brio r I was using previously.

Another thumbs up for the DS2 here.
Not a glamorous brand, but their phono stages are decent.
In fact I think Project do a fair bit of good stuff. I get pretty confused with a lot of their budget turntables. Why have so many variations so closely priced together? Also, I think Project have a snob value working against them.
If they stripped back their product range to concentrate on a smaller core range they may elevate themselves above the “What Hifi” fodder cliche.
