Default Sacrilege - sms better than lps

Playing about with the 15v lps to my young dac, replaced it with a high quality 19v smps and sbooster and its dramatically better, clarity, dynamics etc well impressed

You have changed two things at the same time: the voltage and the circuit topology. Pleased it has worked for you, but I'm not sure it supports the title of the thread.

Replaced lps at 15v feeding sbooster with 19v smps feeding sbooster, the difference may be more to the voltage increase but what ever it sounds way better

    That's all that matters Ian.

Jez Arkless (late of this parish) always maintained that a well-designed SMPS is just as good a power source as any LPS.

    I agree with that.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Does the Young Dac tolerate 19V OK?

I ran mine at 20v Alan, I did have a Panasonic lower ESR input cap fitted though, which may have given the dac more capacity?

As I understand it the maximum input voltage is determined by the volatge rating of the DC coupling cap, if you recall you fitted a 25V panasonic for me. So should be fine.
