Lol, no worries, and it is, and on a Tuesday too, when traditionally figures are normally at their highest... Today in the UK (with the previous day's figures shown in brackets below) https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/:

Positive tests: 34,526 (37,960).

Deaths: 167 (40).

Hospitalisations: 706 (775).

So yes, the new cases figure is lower than yesterday's, and the death figure is also more accurate (higher), but thankfully also showing a downwards trend of nearly 10% over the last 7 days. Plus hospitalisations continue on a downwards trend now of nearly 15%.

Therefore, the figures (hopefully) are slowly starting to go in the right direction.

In Wales (previous day's figures in brackets):

New cases: 2,270 (5,659).

Deaths: 6 (12).

Slight difference in Wales, too!

yup its one reason... fewer folk coming forward etc, although at over 10% it suggests there is still a fair amount around. but im happier its lowering

Just for reference, these were the stats last Tuesday for the UK (with the previous day's figures in brackets):

Positive tests: 31,564 (36,000).

Deaths: 203 (49).

Hospitalisations: 861 (930).

And today (with the previous day's figures in brackets):

Positive tests: 34,526 (37,960).

Deaths: 167 (40).

Hospitalisations: 706 (775).

So, new cases are hovering around similar levels (if you take into consideration the previous day's total from last week of 36,000), although still overall a little higher, *however* both deaths and hospitalisations are notably down.

New cases are always liable to fluctuate a lot, as they're influenced by many factors. The important thing is that there are less people going into hospital on a daily basis, and thankfully of those going in, less are dying.

Therefore, as I've said before, the situation clearly isn't getting worse; it's getting better, but just not as quickly as we'd like!
