Bake Offs, gatherings n such has been greatly missed this last year.
Good stuff, mate. Like Alan, I didn't recognise the building as being the Owston venue. Haven't been to Owston for years, as it's largely a DIY/audio talk thing. I'd have thought the last NEBO venue would've been more relevant for AoS?

Lol, but it get your point

Keep us posted on how you're getting through the side-effects of the vaccine. They do say if you've had Covid, you're more likely to suffer from the side-effects you describe, and you did say you thought you'd caught it last year...

Anyway, mate hope the ill effects subside and you feel better soon!

It is being suggested that we may need a Covid vaccination certificate/"passport" to go to the pub
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56517486

Fine by me, but where/how do I get one?
(I guess my local would accept my appointment confirmation email, although that doesn't confirm that I actually turned up and had it)

Don't get me started on that. It's gross discrimination (comes under the same category as mandatory vaccinations) and should never be allowed in any society that purports to be truly FREE and democratic. Also, what if you don't have a smartphone, in order to utilise the proposed app?

Plus, there's no conclusive proof yet that if you've been vaccinated you're a) immune to Covid, or crucially, b) unable still to transmit the virus. It's bollox, and simply 'Big Brother' trying to impose yet more control on our lives!

In any case, if introduced, it'll cause all sorts of ructions, and riots by human rights protestors, such as we've already seen in our major cities, and which would only be the tip of the iceberg! I certainly wouldn't like to be any pub worker or publican trying to enforce this and keep those out who 'don't qualify for entry'! It'll be utter mayhem on busy weekends

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Exactly, mate. How the likes of Guy can say 'Fine by me' beggars belief, as he obviously hasn't considered the wider implications of this, in terms of its potential impact on our freedoms and human rights in future, if this grossly unjust and discriminative legislation becomes reality.

Quite simply, it's fundamentally WRONG! And here's why.. From the above article:

"The idea of asking pub goers to show a vaccine certificate was raised at Wednesday's House of Commons Liaison Committee hearing, when Conservative William Wragg asked Mr Johnson if vaccine certificates were "compatible with a free society such as ours".

The answer: no they fucking aren't!! They're grossly INCOMPATIBLE.

It was mooted that it may be up to individual publicans what they do, so if introduced I'll be drinking in pubs that say a huge FUCK OFF TO VACCINE CERTIFICATES!!!

And if there are protest marches in the streets about this, I'll be there!! If necessary, this needs fought and defeated, by people power, just like the poll tax.

Guy..The article says, could not would and it may be up to the publican to choose what he/she wants to do...Many people can't have a vaccine for one reason and/or another..these individuals and the people who don't want vaccinated may have to prove they have been tested and proved negative for covid, before entry....This is just the start of things to come, because more people have had the vaccine, than not, So..Anyone in this type of business, are going to want to protect these individuals in the majority, who will be their customers...Come in you are welcome..Unfortunately, It's coming and I would guess for the mean time, it's going to be part of the new normal...life's a bitch..

I'd like to also add this..Any premises has the lawful right to refuse entry to anyone, they do not need a reason ...
