Lol - I guess that depends on what you consider as "Christmas", and how you celebrate it

If you're talking about all the materialistic commercial nonsense and rampant pisshead party-goers, then maybe, but not for those who see it primarily as a religious celebration [yes churches will remain open] and a QUIET and RELAXED time [not an excuse to get off your face on booze] to spend with a FEW loved ones on Christmas Day.

In that respect, CHRISTmas, chez-moi, will be near-identical to every other year, and I'm very much looking forward to it!

And I'm sure that will also apply to hundreds of thousands of others.

Applies to me, really looking forward to Christmas with my wife and both daughters - as you say, spending a very pleasant relaxing (and indulgent )day with my nearest and dearest (and counting my blessings).

Exactly, mate. *THAT* is what it's all about - not all the other mindless shite!

We'll be attending a candlelit carol service at the local cathedral on Christmas Eve, after which my dad will be coming round to ours to enjoy some wine and nibbles, then mass in the morning on Christmas day, accompanied by my dad, after which we'll all come home and prepare the grub and decorate the table for lunch!

Starting with various homemade canapés, lovingly constructed by Del, which are always fabulous, accompanied by homemade cocktails (made by me) and some vintage Champagne, then onto the starter of a triple-cheese soufflé and rocket/herb salad, followed by a spot consommé, and onto the main event of beef Wellington, made to the same recipe as served at the Savoy, with all the trimmings, accompanied by an assortment of fine-wines, followed by Del's homemade pannacotta and raspberry fruit coulis, served with selected pudding wines.

And if anyone still has some room left, some stilton and vintage port with homemade oatcakes... Then a right good sleep and 'mong out' in front of a roaring log fire! And movies later. Bring it on

Yes that's what I said? No-one claims the test is infallible. But there's a difference between a test that is not infallible and a test that is useless.

Very serious news from wee bonny lassie Scottish Nicola Sturgeon. She is coming out of this with much credit.

This new variant is very worrisome.
