And what was the result in Morrisons - shelves full or what? The point I'm making is that it's completely pointless going along to supermarkets just now, only to be met with empty shelves!

Supermarkets need to start telling their customers (via website alerts or whatever) when there is stuff available to buy (or when to shop), otherwise folks are just running around like headless chickens, putting their health at risk by mingling in public, for no reward whatsoever...

Wasting my time like that would piss me off in a major way, so I for one will not be using them again until I *know* that my journey will be worthwhile!

pretty empty but they were in restock mode so I got enough.. veg aisles were empty but the lad restocking dug out my request for potatos carrots and onions with a smile.. I probably wont risk it again(that was yesterday)

I am working from home, sat on the terrace, spotting red squirrels. In the background is a large number of petrol garden all,Ian ces being used.

Ok, but what about Asda and Tesco, which are open 24 hours? What time do you go in order to 'catch' the shelves being restocked?

And with Sainsbury's or Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, etc, which aren't opened 24 hours, outside of the 7-8am slot for OAPs, when's the best time to shop - immediately after that, while stocks last or what?

My wife went to Tesco for her Mums shopping this morning, it is a large one and is open 24 hours normally, they were making announcements that the store would only be open 8am to 8pm and that no individual shopper would be allowed to purchased more than 2 of one item to ensure everyone was able to meet their shopping needs. I suspect the 8 to 8 is for 2 reasons, to allow their staff to restock shelves without exposure to the great unwashed, and also it means that with tills being manned they can enforce the 2 item policy.

I have noticed a lot of the local supermarkets are advertising for additional temporary staff, a lot at nights shifts and delivery drivers. In our local Tesco a lot of the staff are in their older years, so maybe they are starting to self-isolate and take the financial hit rather than risk getting the Coronavirus.

Well that's good news (on all counts), and entirely sensible, but *ONLY* if by 8am every day the shelves are full, ready for the day's trade, ditto the same the following day and so forth... We need to get to a point where people are able to buy what they need (within existing restrictions) and not be making completely wasted journeys.

And if staff, as you say, are using the times in between to restock shelves, then there's no excuse for that not to happen, *if* everything is still in plentiful supply and the goods are getting through to stores. However I'm glad to see that proper measures are at last being taken to prevent idiots from panic-buying.

I'd have no qualms whatsoever getting the police involved to taser, and then arrest, the most belligerent offenders!!!

I think it will be 2 of the same meal, so unless you wan to eat a pre-perpared roast beef dinner every day I think you should be OK, or Pot Noodles every day
