Analysis from PHE suggests a single dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines reduce your chances of catching coronavirus and then needing to go to hospital with it by about three quarters.

The effect of the vaccine does not depend on the variant: a single dose of vaccine is just as good at preventing hospitalisation for Delta as for Alpha.

Although we already know the first dose of the vaccine is slightly blunted by Delta – that’s for your chances of catching coronavirus. It looks like fewer of those Delta cases who’ve been vaccinated go on to require hospitalisation.

Among people who have received two doses of the vaccine, the chances of catching and being hospitalised by coronavirus is reduced by more than 90%. We already knew two doses were as good against Delta as they were against Alpha.

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

My second Oxford/AstraZeneca jab is next week. Felt a bit rough for three days after the first, small price to pay!

I'm not exactly worried about catching Covid 19 anyway, as I'd already had it in January, so my resistance to reinfection should remain high. Some say for at least six months, others suggest possibly indefinitely. Regardless of strain (so far).

I've got my second coming up a week tomorrow. Didn't have any issues from the first one except slightly sore arm for two days.

I had a slightly sore arm (around the puncture point) and felt a bit achy the next day, which is what I was expecting, but it only lasted a day. Absolutely no side effects after the second dose.

However my partner, after having the first jab, reacted quite badly: severe fatigue; dizziness; ache and only wanted to sleep. It lasted a day and a half (I had warned her it could last a couple of days), and by the evening of the second day she was back to here usual self. Apparently she reacted really badly after having a flu jab a few years ago, so she was very reluctant to have the Covid jab; given her reaction she may need some encouragement to have the second.

Marco did once try to market it, but couldn't get it past the Food Standards Agency, due to the noodles actually being tapeworms. Yummy
