Bigger rise in the death stats today, as you'd expect with the catch up over the weekend: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

Still nothing of major concern though, with the number of positive tests still on the decline. Here's an interesting article to consider, explaining why vaccinated people dying shouldn't be a major cause for concern: https://theconversation.com/most-cov...b-global-en-GB

I think it sets that out pretty clearly.

In that respect, it would be interesting to know the age demographic of the 131 recently reported deaths. Equally, it'll be interesting to see how the stats look tomorrow and towards the end of the week, and whether numbers continue to rise, or as has been happening recently, stabilise and then reduce.

I'm predicting the latter, but if it's the former, do bear in mind what's explained in the article above

Hi Marco, I think that some of this may be down to semantics.

I don't translate my "person caring about the health of others" in the situation of wearing a mask in a shop as meaning that that person is a "caring person".

As an example; on a recent visit to Tesco I had to ask a woman to move away from the newspaper display which she was using as a lecturn to hold a copy of the Times which she was quite engrossed in.
She was wearing a mask, so in that respect she was caring about the health of others. However, in respect of getting in the way of other shoppers/contaminating the newspaper she obviously didn't give a shit, so not a generally "caring person".

I couldn't ever set myself up as judge and executioner (done too many dodgy things in the past ), but I do try to act in a way that doesn't place others at risk.
With that in mind, I have very ambivalent views on a number of topics.

For instance, I was a smoker for many years, but gave up about twenty years ago (still on the gum though ).
I still find it annoying when people suggest that smokers should be denied health treatment as they have "bought it on themselves" despite their taxes paid on cigarettes could quite easily pay for any health care they need in later life. Though there don't seem to be many advocating to withhold medical care for sporting injuries/obesity/rectifying silicone implant leaks/dental care for boiled sweet eaters - the list goes on.
However, I prefer being able to go in a pub without having my clothes stinking of cigarette smoke. I also feel guilty now about subjecting others to the potentially lethal effects of passive smoking.

We live in a "democracy" (separate thread needed for that one ). The majority of the population have now agreed that having a vaccination is the right thing to do - one has to assume that was their free choice.
If it then becomes a requirement to be vaccinated in order to take a flight, go to a concert or whatever then that is part and parcel of living in a "democracy".

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people voluntarily wearing masks are doing so because they think they're protecting themselves, not out of some altruistic motive.
    Current Lash Up:

I'm pretty sure that you are right (or just because the use of a mask allows access to shops etc), still gives me a positive impression though

I got one for post 8535 It all ties up whit the discussion about label
The fascio represent the strength of may straws tied together small helpless people united to overturn adversity and Mussolini did same good things

Minimum working age and mandatory school for children’s, maternity live for women working unions and almost kept his electoral promises for a job to everyone, way before any one else i believe
He also did same bad things and make same serious mistakes one of those the Alliance whit Hitlers.
Old water sports promise was a car for every one the wolks vagen I can not really say nor care to know how the Swastika came out I know that it is one of the symbols on one of the Pope formal robes so they must have robbed that from same place
I also don’t know of any good thing done by old water sport.
The Italian war effort was a joke and rightly we celebrate liberation day If you have not seen it watch the movie Capitan Corelli Mandolin
So, there you go Fascist used as label to characterize the Little Hitler label
Yes, they make much sense and aptly convey what you are saying can’t stand the Little Hitler's at all and can spot them a mile away
Maybe they should not so liberally placed together?
    Off topic ...maybe
Hey how many ever thought that Cassiopeia is a nice name for a daughter
A beautiful star on the belt of Orion they told you at school well actually it is the Foreskin of Orion romans being Romans thought that Orion had a big willy and so the Skin, = Pelle of his willy =Cassio was so far up
Or ever heard the Carmina Burana played in a church organ you know the bit that goes
Aprite Sfinteo, as it goes it is same dude having a poo.
Just saying about Labels nought else

Ok, what I was mainly referring to was this:

So may I ask what your overriding opinion is of someone not wearing a mask in a shop? Be honest, and if it's not caring, then you will understand the point I've made above

Also consider what I said earlier about NLP techniques and brainwashing, as for me it's relevant to much of the diktat that's come from the government throughout this pandemic. Scroll back if you need to (post 8536 contains the necessary info). I'd also be interested in your views on that.
