The money is simply the tool that provides the power; it's the power, and with it the ability to rule people, which is ultimately what corrupts! And in that respect, no ONE person should be allowed to have a personal wealth* of multiple billions. It's simply obscene, and of course dangerous..

It should be capped at a certain level, TBH, long before it hits ONE billion, and the rest distributed to charitable organisations or reinvested into genuine humanitarian needs for society.

Unfortunetly its a human trait to want to control. The technology we really have, [not the bollox given to us ie; smart phones,and social media,mainly to waste as much of our time as possible] when put to good use, could vastly transform this world, and all our lives for the better.

The problem is that while some capping/levelling of wealth is a good idea, it would only work if every country agreed to impose the same limits, as otherwise wealth would simply move from a higher tax to a lower tax country. There are plenty of tiny countries such as the Cayman Islands which happily accommodate individuals and companies wanting to pay less tax.

Most (broadly-speaking) conservative governments, including the Tories here, and Trump's Republican administration, currently favour tax cuts to stimulate growth, rather than tax increases to level out discrepancies in wealth, though it's unclear how any country will meet the costs of lockdown without raising taxes. Boris has ruled out both increasing taxes and reducing spending; indeed, his whole pitch to voters in the Midlands and North of England was based on greater government spending on projects such as HS2. I can't see how he'll square that particular circle.

Yes, I also agree. It has to be a collective effort. Just think how much money could be used to benefit mankind with such a move? It could end world homelessness and poverty!
