Well they could hand wash them in Bath like I did, after I washed. It's not difficult. It's cheap and it works.

Thousands of students in Manchester just had a lockdown slapped on them with immediate effect. They'll have their work cut out enforcing that, the students in Edinburgh are already violating the rules at every opportunity.

Default Stats currently for CV-related deaths in the UK...

Just thought I'd examine the current stats to see whether the rise in all these new 'cases' we've been seeing now, for many weeks, have been developing into anything significantly more serious (i.e. deaths), and indeed if there was any emerging real justification for all the local lockdowns and increased restrictions currently being imposed on our population...

    Source: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/deaths

Deaths within 28 days of positive test:

    Daily: 17 Total: 41,988.

Abstract information: Daily number of deaths of people who have had a positive test result and died within 28 days, reported on Sunday, 27 September 2020.

    ---------------------------

    ...thought not...

And of course, we've now entered the cold/flu season.

So when is this "massive second-wave" of the virus, a potentially deadly one, because of all these 'emerging new cases', likely to transpire...? I think we'll be in for a LONG wait!

And, more importantly, in the continued face of evidence showing that hardly anyone is dying from this virus, just how long will the government be able to justify their current actions??

That's deaths but what about cases requiring hospitalization?

Very few people die from it but if cases requiring hospital treatment rose to a level that overwhelmed the system that would be a big problem and more would die.

So if you consider the purpose of lockdown etc is to prevent the health services from being overwhelmed then the lockdowns and other measures do make some sense.

Also you have to consider local capacity. There may well be spare treatment facilities in Edinburgh but that's not much use if you have more cases than you can handle down in Exeter.

I hear what you're saying, but doubt there is any reliable data on current hospitalisations, so arguing that point would largely be fruitless.

My main point is that there has been no REAL 'second wave' (nor do I suspect to see one), which will emulate (or worsen) the situation we had in March and April, both in terms of deaths and hospitalisations.

And watch this space, I predict that there simply won't be, even into November and December, increased flu cases and associated deaths, exacerbated by Covid, excepting. If that turns out to be true, do you still think that the current lockdowns and restrictions will remain in place?

Btw, I refreshed the previous link, and daily deaths at today's date have fallen to 13.
