No, but how much of that is flu cases, naturally high at this time of the year, possibly being lumped in along with them?

Either accidentally, due to the potential for error of PCR tests accurately differentiating between both, and therefore generating false positives? Or... The government falsely inflating the figures for reasons previously discussed?

The move to lateral flow now instead will possibly improve the efficacy of testing for Covid, so maybe then we'll get more accurate (possibly lower) figures recorded for new cases? Consider that.

What's interesting is the currently high level of new infections reported, yet comparatively few hospitalisations... That suggests that either the vaccines and new ways of treating Covid patients in hospitals is very effective, or that there exists lots of false positives artificially inflating the figures for new infections - or possibly both! We don't know.

In any case (no pun intended), as I said, *it's the flu season*, so even if those 45,000 are genuine Covid cases, how long before they're superceded by cases of flu? Do we now impose restrictions or lockdowns because of flu...?

We're heading into the winter, folks, and viruses abound, so traditionally this is a time when people become ill from all sorts of things, not just Covid. Therefore, if you've been double-jabbed, flu jabbed and boosted up to yer bollox, then all you can do is suck it up and get on with it, and don't buy into the media-created hysteria!

i already know the basics of what he said mate. i understand it too. being vaccinated doesnt stop transmission, but reduces it greatly. nothing will stop it currently its a matter of controlling its pace really.

We need to put things into perspective and stop obsessing now over Covid.

Before this pandemic, how much did we focus on or take notice of stats for the number of people infected by flu, or any other disease or virus, and how busy or otherwise hospitals were? Speaking for myself, and I'm sure most others, it never entered my head!

Now the authorities and media have conditioned us to 'fret over' something that, at this stage, we simply have to manage as best we can and learn to live with. The best thing right now, for the sake of our mental health and well-being, is to forget all about Covid, and if you're fully vax'd and boosted, just get on with your life.

The only reason I post the daily stats is to keep a historical record of them, for future reference, and so that I'm aware of what's happening on a daily basis and therefore what action to expect next from our authorities!
