Lol, a bit over-dramatic, no? We're talking about foreign holidays, not their livelihoods, wives or kids!!

Anyway, I sympathise to a degree, but still stand by what I said.

The massive assumption you make, that is invalid, is that lifespan is the same for all of us and foreseeable.

Who knows what’s round the corner? What could befall anyone?

    Live for today, die tomorrow?

Do what your told, we’ll look after you, what a load of bollox.

In terms of the bit in bold, that certainly doesn't apply to me, least of all Del who's just DESPERATE to go out shopping and party with her mates again, as well as her and I doing the stuff we normally do, which is going all over the place for trips/meals out/music gigs, the cinema (all sorts - we certainly don't just doss around the house), and when things get more back to normal soon, and we can do those things again, that'll be plenty until it's both sensible and safe to venture abroad

Not sure what you're on about, Gary? I'm not saying to do what you're told (far from it), in that respect you should know me better by now.

I'm simply saying doing what is the right and sensible thing to do right now, *solely* in terms of foreign travel.

Del and I would love to go to Germany during the summer to see her family there, but have decided to make the sacrifice and stay in the UK instead, for reasons already explained, as the thought of having to spend weeks in quarantine, as a result of having a 'jolly abroad', would be counterproductive and totally spoil any enjoyment we would've had from going in the first place!

Therefore, we'll only be contemplating doing so, when we can guarantee that there will be no adverse repercussions.

    What's wrong with that?

Yes, I know. But I can pretty much guarantee next year there'll be far less risk of being quarantined for coronavirus, after having gone on holiday abroad, than will exist if doing so this summer!

It's a bit like the folks who flock to beaches on bank holiday Mondays, only to spend the majority of the day either stuck in traffic jams on motorways or queues to get into heaving-full car parks, for the sake of spending an hour or so on a crowded beach with all the other numpties!

The sheer stress of that for me would completely outweigh any 'pleasure' I derived from the time spent on the beach, so would rather just stay at home and chill, and enjoy the sunshine in my own private outdoor space - and the same would apply with the thought of foreign travel right now with all the potential pitfalls it could, or most certainly would entail, and therefore for me, take all the fun out of it.

Far better, therefore, to wait a bit and go when there's a much better chance of being able to enjoy myself and have something genuinely nice to look forward to! Anyway, that's my view. YMMV

When I say do what you’re told I’m referring to Governments control.

There is no going back to “freedom” without control of activity without compliance!

Nope, “pretty much” doesn’t cut it! You really think that sort of guarantee works? Far less risk of being allowed to travel at all....anywhere?

Not everyone thinks the same, what appears heaven to you is hell to others, and vice versa.

Don’t wait in a forlorn hope that things may get better, do what you want now before it’s too late.

    Just my view

That's fine, you're entitled to your view, some of which I agree with, and some of which I don't. I think you're getting way too bogged down though with 'big brother out to get you', much as I have some sympathies in that direction.

My advice, with the best possible intentions, would be not to go down too may rabbit holes/dead ends, which take you nowhere useful, and don't let the whole thing dominate your life in a negative way, as that stuff mate, really isn't good for your head.

I do think big brother is out to get me.....we bought a new washing machine at the end of October, it failed two weeks ago, got fixed today. That really did my head in ....lol.

The usual excuse “due to Corona virus” you’ll have to wait. I now hate Samsung

I guess I’m a realist and can unfortunately see both sides of any discussion, it’s a failure of mine. I’m just putting another picture that I can see, it’s not all consuming. The bloody washing machine was......lol.

I do like sunshine though, and hate flying, I’ve done too much long haul stuff for work. Happy in the garden......ugh .....not gardening though.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.
