God help us then... What happened to getting into politics for the RIGHT REASONS (to do good) and to fight for what is right; the values you believe in and stand for - do such noble traits no longer exist? Is the whole thing simply a seedy quagmire of selfishness and corruption?

The only genuine/sincere politician I can think of (in my lifetime) was Michael Foot - very disconcerting for me as I don't consider myself a socialist (I was fairly young at the time, but still remember being disgusted with the press attacks on his dress at the Cenotaph).

Your phrase about "all politicians are lying disingenuous bastards" certainly hits the mark in my view - don't just look at Boris though, I wouldn't trust Corbyn, Spurgeon (just look at the in fighting there ) or, further afield Macron, Van Der Leyden or any of the other lying, self serving egoists.

Thing is in England we don't have a classless society like they do in other countries, in England doors are always open to people who went to the right school and are related to the right people, complete idiots roll out of Eaton straight into a top uni, scrape through a piss pot degree course then land a 6 figure job in a top firm, these people can literally get away with murder, the rest of us can think we can climb this ladder but it will always be closed to us regardless of what we've attained

Lol, I was being serious. I get what you're saying, and largely agree, but it's just alien to my way of thinking/how I'm wired. If I were getting into politics it would be to use it as a force for good, not evil. I don't really understand why it can't be like that.
