TBH, when we're abroad, we try and avoid ALL tourists like the plague, no matter where they're from, and as much as possible mingle with the locals, which is reasonably easy in types of places where we usually go [way off the beaten track]
One of the nicest things for us is being in some lovely little village in France, without a tourist in sight, and sitting in (perhaps the only bar), having a few drinks and chatting to the locals in their lingo (or at least I do) - Del just smiles nicely and lets me know when she needs a refill, or if she spies a dress shop/boutique she wants to have a look in [read as undoubtedly buy something from], and I'm employed as payer/translator!
Being petite, she gets a lot of her clothes in France and likes many of the French fashions, as they're a bit different from here.
