I don’t think Expert vs Self is such a black and white thing, don’t think being sensible it ever can be?

I mean it’s never good as Marco says (And I’ve never disagreed with!) to blindly accept what other people tell you, self proclaimed expert or not.
I mean, why would you?

Healthy scepticism is a good way to protect yourself, but equally at the other extreme is it _really_healthy to assume you can doubt everybody’s intent, even if MANY OTHERS say they are top in their Field and have proven history of it?
The Surgeon in my earlier example...or even Tony Fauci, for instance, who has served under every President (Red and Blue) since Reagan as the Country’s top Public Health expert - maybe kinda guy you’d want advice from.

Like a lotta stuff, about finding the balance...
Some cases are obvious, the Garage telling you your car needs a new engine when you take it in to get the wheels rebalanced...or the cancer expert showing you an X-Ray of your lungs.

Others more of a grey area.

Blanket dismissal of facts can be as bad as blanket acceptance.
Somewhere in the middle is mibbay sensible, but aye...be educated and know the facts for yourself too, totally.

As I said before, he's there to do a job [drain the swap and dismantle the elite, which he's doing very well indeed]. I don't like aspects of his personality either, but that's simply a side issue, and of no real importance compared with the task he has to complete.
