Ahh, I didn't realise - trouble is the current system does not work, so perhaps (and I am not certain about this) something which includes biometrics is needed?

They can give me an ID, and I am content to provide fingerprints. But I will not pay for it, nor to having it compulsory to carry it.
The only biometric information I will give is a photo, or fingerprints. I will not allow them to take a retinal scan, as that is an invasion of my body. (I do have an annual retinopathy scan as I am Type II diabetic, but I consent to do that - it is not forced upon me.)
