However, even if more people had been tested, it doesn't necessarily mean that it would've revealed more positive results, as it depends on how prevalent the virus is now in the community.
In that respect, it could be the case that even if more people had been tested, positive results might not have gone up by much. Of course, we don't know, but that's my 'glass half-full' way of looking at things anyway. I'm pretty sure there's been other days, a while back, where new cases were higher from a similar amount of tests

Positive tests: 37,960 (32,417).
Deaths: 40 (58).
Hospitalisations: 775 (777).
Well, firstly, I think the death figure is artificially low, with data not having been updated yet from the weekend. However, the new cases figure should be reasonably accurate, and disappointingly still shows a slight upwards trend.
The continuing good news though is that hospitalisations remain stable and on a general downwards trend. It's that figure which tends to drive government strategy, in terms of controlling the situation and any further restrictions imposed or otherwise, and therefore why it's important. We'll see where we are tomorrow with the usual 'Tuesday hike'.
The figures in Wales haven't been updated yet from yesterday.

New cases: 5,659 (3,303).
Deaths: 12 (13).
So a bit of a spike currently in new cases, perhaps a delayed impact of kids going back to school? If so, things should settle down again soon.
