people need patience... my dad was away at war for 6 years without getting home. folk lived under blackout for an age, and with little interesting to eat...and no whisky!!!!!!!

He still had his freedom though, didn't he? Albeit within the prevailing restrictions of the time. And the civilians at home, not fighting in the war, certainly had theirs.

They weren't tracked and traced to buggery or forced to wear masks [unless there was a gas attack]. Losing your freedom (especially when otherwise you enjoy a happy, rewarding and fulfilling life), for even a relatively short time, is hard to take, and the prospect of losing it forever, or it being significantly reduced in some way in future, even more so...

That's why being jailed for committing a crime is such a punishment, as depriving any human being of their FREEDOM is one of the worst things possible.

Course not. But when you came home on leave, you were a free man, no? That's my point

Also, with respect, it's easy for you to say 'have patience' when even before all this crap happened you never did much or went anywhere. You spent the vast majority of your time at home (quite different from Del and I), so it comes down to what kind of life you were used to before all this happened, in terms of how able you are to cope with the loss of freedom.

well no, as i say he was abroad for 6 years and didnt get home. even when being repatriated he got nabbed and used to relieve others who got home.. not fair but you dont get a say.
You wouldnt have enjoyed war time(neither would I) food may have been healthy, but it tasted crap. and i wasnt always so lame and did get about a bit.. ive not actually touched another human for 9 months... you know how that feels?

Tonsils also grow back, [apparently] like many kids of my era, i had my tonsills out when i was 6 years of age, missed out on the ice cream, scarred me for life
Anyway, i remember going to the Docs when i was i guess in my Forties, with a bad throat, and after the Doc had examined me, she stated that i had Tonsillitis!

I dont think anyone here is questioning the medical advancements, and procedures man has acheived in respect to prolonging life in genral, for me personaly the road of discovery and wanting to find answers to dificult and complicted medical conditions started before all this paticular situation came about, without going into details, i have a young child that for reasons unknown to us at the time went from being perfectly healthy, to becoming very ill in a relatively short amount of time, the doctors, and specialists did what they could, but for a time were absolutely baffled by their own admision as to what was going on, feeling totaly helpless and overwhelmed by it all, i started doing my own research into her condition, which helped me understand when eventualy the real specialists got involved, and were able to explain to us what was happening, and what was needed to be done to stop it.
We will be forever thankfull and in debt to those that came through for us and saved our child.

Why have i mentioned this now ?
Because there are currently tens of thousands of doctors, physicians, and specialists in all manner of the medical and scientific world, who are trying desperately to get their voices heard, and tell us what is going on, but they are being scensored, banned, and worse by those who are hell bent on keeping us in fear, and total confusion, which is deviding families, putting neighbour against neighbour, friends against friends etc, etc, all for what end ?

If you really care about your own well being, your family, and those around you, then keep searching for the truth, its out there...

yeah it also holds a squadron of white blood cells to add to the fight... but, no you dont need them, but they do help as long as they dont get infected badly. if they do they often repeatedly continue it until they need to go. ive still got mine; only one in family actually bro and sis; mum and dad all lost theirs

No, and of course I sympathise, but that's largely from choice, based on your level of risk assessment, given your health condition(s).

It's arguable, however, that you were just as much at risk from the virus when you attempted to go out that time to the shops, with your visor on, etc (and gave up because you couldn't breathe, which was a terrible situation to have been in), or any other time you've been out since, as you would have been from giving your daughter, son or grandson a cuddle... But that's your choice, and I respect that.

In terms of food during the war, I'm not sure it would've been that bad, based on what my dad has said, as my grandparents had their own garden and always grew much of their own produce, even back then, so whilst what they ate wasn't 'fancy' (far from it), it was invariably fresh and tasty home-cooked food. Italians will always skimp on or do without other things, WAY before they will their food!!

A healthy and nutritious diet is something, over generations, our family have always grown up on, which perhaps is why most of them have lived to a ripe old age! I guess you can't put a price on good genes
