But mainly those who own or control the biggest of the companies in question!

The other major 'beneficiary' in all of this, with lockdowns and folks having been forced indoors for MONTHS on end now, is Amazon. And that situation will only worsen as the high street dies, increasingly accelerated by further lockdowns, and more and more people shop online.

So you have the likes of Bill Gates [a major investor in many of the pharma companies producing the vaccines] and Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, becoming WAY richer than they would've otherwise ever been, had Covid not come around.

If that doesn't get you at least thinking that some things might not quite be what they seem, then well, I don't know what to say...

All these questions have been answered previously on this thread.

Flu is not the same as covid - Covid is much more transmissible. Plus you can have covid and not know you have got it. thus carrying on your normal life and infecting others. No true of the flu - if you have the flu you are on your back for two weeks
Covid is more likely to result in a fatality.
    No vaccine is 100% effective
Who benefits if big pharma make money? - Everyone with a pension
Flu comes back every year as there are multiple strains. There is no permanent solution. Whereas with covid a vaccine that is only 50% effective will still eventually result in herd immunity which will eradicate the virus in the same way as the smallpox virus was eradicated.

The eradication of smallpox is strong proof that vaccines - despite not being 100% effective - are still very effective in eliminating viruses from the population. It demonstrates that current thinking on virology is correct.

Saying you don't need to have it as you don't get out much isn't really an excuse - you do get out quite a bit - the shops, restaurants, socialising - if you are a carrier then you will pass it on to someone who may well get very sick and/or die from it. If you had the flu you would not be doing any of those things, you would be at home incapable ,

The socially responsible thing to do is to have the vaccine.

Yes, we know all that and accept it.

However, it still doesn't address the issue of the (up to) 30,000 people who die every year from flu, which arguably (and there are just as many stats around suggesting this, as the opposite) is capable (the key word) of killing as many people as Covid, and why to date there hasn't been anywhere near the same efforts by the authorities in attempting to combat that (other than with a vaccine), via measures such as the mandatory wearing of face masks, enforcing of public social distancing, hand cleansing, etc, which have been introduced for Covid.

Don't you think that the latter would also help curb the spread of flu and potentially save lives? So why hasn't it been done??

Plus, as I've said, many others and I still remain highly sceptical of how many of the deaths attached to the stats for Covid were actually 100% due to Covid, and not some pre-existing comorbidity. I've heard from a number of people I know who have friends or family in the NHS, that they're being *encouraged* by the government to label as many deaths as possible as caused by Covid, given the slightest opportunity, when in *actuality* the real cause of death was something else - so what's all that about..?

So, is that what matters most, rather than anything else, particularly how much more insidious power and influence it gives to some of the rather dodgy people who own or control the companies concerned, and how negatively that impacts on many other aspects of our lives? And has done for years....!

Flu comes back every year as there are multiple strains. There is no permanent solution. Whereas with covid a vaccine that is only 50% effective will still eventually result in herd immunity which will eradicate the virus in the same way as the smallpox virus was eradicated.
Or as we've discussed elsewhere, smallpox could've arguably already been on its way out, naturally, before the vaccine came, and the latter simply accelerated the process.

You or I, or indeed anyone else, cannot categorically prove otherwise. Therefore, whilst I agree that good (and safe) vaccines can help eradicate many diseases, they are no magic bullet, or necessarily (or certainly indisputably) any more effective in creating herd immunity than simply allowing nature to take its course.

Saying you don't need to have it as you don't get out much isn't really an excuse - you do get out quite a bit - the shops, restaurants, socialising - if you are a carrier then you will pass it on to someone who may well get very sick and/or die from it. If you had the flu you would not be doing any of those things
Yes, but the point is I'm less likely to spread the virus, if indeed I was a carrier, than the majority of others who are in daily contact with many different people at work and/or on the way there, via public transport, and also who go to pubs and other social venues after that, plus at weekends - and that is significant in terms of how much of a danger I realistically present to others.

The socially responsible thing to do is to have the vaccine.
Sorry, that's bullshit and more than a little offensive, as it implies that those who won't, don't care or are irresponsible, which is completely untrue.

Dropping litter on the street, or smoking in public places, even where it isn't banned, but still causes distress to others, or not picking up your dog's mess, is socially irresponsible. Having a vaccine, which *YOU* don't consider as safe and that could be seriously harmful to YOUR future health, is a totally different matter!!

The difference is, you're satisfied that the forthcoming (largely untried) vaccines for Covid will be safe, based on YOUR judgement criteria, which is fine and I respect that, but would you still take one, if like me you had SERIOUS reservations, simply to be 'socially responsible'? No chance!

Therefore, kindly respect others and my contrary conclusions on how safe they're likely to be, based on OUR judgement criteria, and don't lay a guilt trip like that on us, as it's both extremely judgemental and highly offensive, especially when we're following the rules, and otherwise doing everything we can, in order to protect other people when we go out.

How do we know how many people walk around carrying the Flu virus every year, and not be affected by it ? why are the rules diffrent for one corona virus to another ?
This is exactly the point i have been trying to make
Its like banging your head on a brick wall, eventualy you realise the effort isnt worth the pain!

    And one more thing i would like to address before i finaly throw the towel in on this;

If I told you I saw Elvis in my local chip shop wearing a top hat and tails, you would undoubtedly question my story, and rightly so, and probably ask me for proof, I would then oblige and produce a picture, you would then look at the picture and notice that it was made up of parts taken from other picks, and would instantly call me out on it.
This is an exaggerated example, but I hope you get where I am coming from.

In this particular instance the bet was placed with a very specific ruling and criteria applied, and the evidence in this case was not within those rules specified.

Another example; you bet on a particular horse in a race, your horse doesn’t win, but you still state that you won, because a horse did indeed win the race, is that fair, would you still expect to be paid out ?

Lanka, however, did not want to pay, the case went to court. At first instance, the District Court ordered Ravensburg Lanka to transfer the sum. It was a "seriously meant binding reward promise," according to section 657 of the Civil Code. The anti-vaccination campaigner then called the next instance - the Higher Regional Court of Stuttgart.

She agreed with the anti-vaccination campaigner, for formal reasons. The promoter had wished for a single piece of evidence, but the applicant had provided several publications which provided evidence only in sum. Therefore, "the vocation is essentially granted."

However, this is by no means to be understood as confirmation of Lanka's theories, the court said: it is by no means "believed that a measles virus does not exist." And addressed to the members of the press present, the presiding judge said: "Watch out with your headlines."

Marco, you the boss of a pretty decent forum. Attracts music-loving people of high intelligence.

Only better one I can think of is Mersenne Forum which is ridiculously polite and clever:

But as your friend, I must tell you that you have seriously entrenched views. The person who sees most of a Football game is the neutral.

Vaccines have side-effects. Make you ill for a few days. But better than the original illness. I have seen more illnesses than most people. Life-changing horrors.

Smallpox, Bilharzia, Malaria, Meningitis. I could go on. We live in Glorious Days. Eat like Kings, have a free National Health Service who are mostly good people. Happy Days.
