Surprising statistic here. This was testing done April to June. By which time most people over 60 to a later 40 had had their jabs.

How many people testing positive for Covid-19 are asymptomatic?

Turns out it is an astonishing 75%! I thought it was 1 in 3 TBH.

COVID-19 symptoms are poor markers of SARS-CoV-2. Thus, 76.5% of this random sample, which tested positive reported no symptoms, and 86.1% reported none of those specific to COVID-19. A more widespread testing program is necessary to capture “silent” transmission and potentially prevent and reduce future outbreaks,” the team concluded in the study.

What does this mean for 4 reasonably healthy married couples who picked up the germ? Likely two out of four will have one partner ill and one with no symptoms at all. Remind you of anyone?

All four couples will have some future immunity one supposes. All four couples were potential spreaders.

    Some good news:

Recent figures suggest the vaccination programme has reduced hospital admissions and deaths, with a fewer than one in 1,000 infections now estimated to result in death - compared with one in 60 during last winter.

Well maybe he is saying that asymptomatic husband passed it on to the wife without knowing and then a week later while wife started showing symptoms and then got poorly.
    Blipping fool,
he was expecting to catch it from the wife but he never did.

Would it not be nice to get an antigen test and put it all to rest?

Really sorry to hear that, mate. Yeah defo take care of her. As has been said loads of times, apart from anything else you're doing, pump her full of Vitamin D. Get some tablets or whatever, honestly it works.

Monitor her condition though, and if it gets worse (don't want it turning into pneumonia) call the Covid helpline and have a doctor assess her condition, or if you think she needs it, just phone an ambulance. It's important to catch it as soon as possible if she starts to deteriorate. It might just seem like a heavy case of flu (which is bad enough), but don't let it get any worse!

And of course look after yourself. Keep us posted.

Ah I see.. Anything's possible, of course. However, there were no vaccines around when my wife caught it, and I hadn't been going anywhere. It was after the lifting of the first lockdown and the students had gone back to college, and her along with about 6 other teachers who'd been in the same room as her came down with symptoms, so that seems a bit of a coincidence.

As you know, kids, schools, colleges, etc, are massive breeding ground for germs of all kinds!
