True, and we have come to assume that the measures to protect against Covid will keep everything else away, which to some degree it has. But we have become so consumed by Covid that any "symptom" must be that. Even while wearing a mask I'm trying not to cough so as to not freak people out. A few times yesterday I found myself repeating my boring "it's a cold not Covid" story to everyone I went near.

Talking to people at work, customers etc. it seems likely that the precautions we are taking now (mask wearing, hand sanitising) will be the new normal, and will continue long after the threat is over.

The key bit is at the end, and the word "threat".

When the threat is genuinely over, or more realistically Covid becomes as manageable a threat as flu, and the majority of the population have been vaccinated, there should be no need for wearing masks, in a mandatory sense; it should simply be up to the individual whether or not they wish to wear them, which would be fine.

Therefore, when we reach the position (as outlined above) I'd hope that the current mandatory requirement for wearing masks, in the likes of shops and public transport is removed, when there's no longer sufficient justification for it.

I'm sure will be the case [after all, masks have never been worn before to combat flu] - and it can't come soon enough for me, as I DETEST the bloody things!!

Still quite liquid, so not there yet. But I'm very much enjoying the phlegm I'm coughing up, has a nice nutty flavour. I didn't need to bother with breakfast this morning

I find if you gargle it, so that it 'whips up' into a near-scrambled egg-like consistency, that it notably improved the texture. Then hold it in your mouth for a few secs, in order to encourage coagulation, which subsequently facilitates chewing, before swallowing, and also enhances the flavour.
