Yesterday, the BBC was reporting about the 'good natured' celebrations in Liverpool, where thousands gathered together, drunk as Skunks with no thought of social distancing. Last night and another gathering where they even managed to set fire to the Liver building. Where are the Police ? Why don't they prevent them gathering before it gets out of hand ?

Is there going to be a large spike in Covid cases in Liverpool, West London and with people who crowded the beaches ?

But then; you look at the crap that has to be cleared up year after year at Glastonbury, how come we dont feel the same about that ?
It really makes me wonder sometimes what goes on in their heads, not a lot by the look of it!

I read that bit about 'setting fire to the Liver Building.' The headline was 'Liver Building Burns.' When you read it you discover that all that happened was a flare landed on a balcony and was then extinguished. Click bait.

I'll predict that there is unlikely to be a spike in cases due to the beach thing or the celebrations in Liverpool because

    a) The odds of anyone in the crowd being positive are very low - we've had three months of lockdown
    b) Even if one or a couple of people are then the odds of them transmitting it to someone else whilst out in the open air are also very low.

The bloke with his mesh 'mask' in Walmart was illustrating a good point. So many people get told 'These are the rules' and then not only do they obey them to the letter even when it makes no sense but they can't wait to point fingers and get on their high horses at the people who think that blind obedience to blanket dictats is for fools.

We've always had a healthy disrespect for authority in this country. It's a fundamental part of our culture and one of our strengths.

Why? He simply (and very successfully) made a salient point.

So far, I haven't seen any credible, indisputable evidence, proving the efficacy of wearing face masks [proper PPE aside] in significantly stopping the spread of the virus. Therefore, he's right, it's FAR more about seeking compliance and controlling people, than anything else!
