Personally I don't think that is a very valid measurement at all.
My understanding is that it is generally accepted that eventually most of the world population will get COVID-19, based on currently know statistics of those that have had it, about 80% will get it mildly and recover easily and quickly, around 15% will be badly affected and will require medical treatment with most making a full recovery and the remaining 5% will unfortunately be very ill will require critical life support, of this 5% about 20% will not survive. This is based on current WHO figures.
I think if you do the maths then even if only about 80% of the population actually get it then the death rate is likely to be substantially higher than your % figure. By the way as pointed out earlier if the leaked figures from China are actually true then it may be even worse.
