The cities are overcrowded, so folk will not be able to stay apart and the infection will run wild! The death toll will be enormous and of course having a selfish, narcissist, capitalist loony in charge will be an insurmountable hindrance.

The dead will be piled in the streets!!

    .
    Wow, was that sadly wrong.
America gives free health care to even people illegally hear , they jump the boarder to have their babies here and that is why 10 years ago a simple no complications child birth for my son was $15,000 dollars.
Wife had to stay 3 days after birth mandatory because the hospitals insurance requires it,so they aren't sued. And it off sets all the people who come here have the same service then walk out bill free.
I had insurance so my cost $100.00.
If you need medical no Emergency room can refuse you.

I was very sick day after Christmas with the flu but very short of breath . 3 weeks it was really bad, honestly most symptoms of covid 19 to tell the truth.
The ER was packed with people who did not speak English, 100% true a real eye opener. I see my doctor once to twice a year and don't go to the ER ever.
I don't do any daily meds either so I don't go to the pharmacy much.
There was a lady in there, they used a computer she talked in it in her language and it translated to the doctor in English! He replied in English and it spoke to her in her language!
Apparently she brought her 2 kids to ER every week to have them checked for being warm or a runny nose. She was a regular!
I know this because I offered to let her go before me because she had kids and the nurse told me I was a far bigger priority and need a chest x ray and nebulizer .
She then went on to say she is here once or twice a week and nothing is ever wrong with any of them,Mom is just nutz.
Leaving to get paper work for my prescription they ask your insurance? Normally there is one person alowed to the window at a time for hippa privacy laws but they had 3 people at a time trying to move people out.
Everyone was using medical free state care. Tax payer picks up the tab. So under stand no one sick gets turned away here. NO ONE. Good ol MEDICAL!

Insurance companies only have limits on chronic care like AIDS and some forms of Cancer where you need supplement insurance and if you are poor the bill is a gift to the tax payers.

Cities are over crowded, very high illegal immigrant populations there, I'll give you that.

Our president has done an amazing job, driving unemployment down to its lowest ever, taking our GDP from 1% to 4% ,wages have gone up and we where on track till covid 19 hit and the poll numbers show he has the highest approval rating ever beating Obama but our liberal media like CNN will never tell you that over there .
We will come back from this and so will most countrys after some short term pain.
At least I hope so for all of us.

As the OP in this Thread, I’d like to address Jeff’s (Goraman) comments in his post above.

He brought up the President doing an “amazing job”, which is relevant and on topic of discussion I think in this thread.

Good insight from someone in the USA thanks.
    Genuine question:
Do you think the President is doing an “amazing job” job tackling the Covid-19 outbreak in the country?
He said it was a “Democratic Hoax” initially, and now he wants to see “packed churches” on Easter Sunday as it would be a “beautiful time” to reopen America.
This of course is whilst the death toll in America is rising exponentially, especially in NY.

So wondering what your take on this is.
    Thanks.

Understand if you don’t want to answer, not everyone agrees the President IS doing an amazing job, myself included.

Don't just blame cowboy builders Andre, Indians aren't necessarily better - there's a firm of Asian builders in Preston (better not name them), and their work is truly shocking.

Also last month I fitted a couple of windows for a young Sikh family, who'd had an extension built by another Asian builder, and the poor man had naively paid in full ahead of the job being completed. The builder in question then bogged off to Pakistan "for a short holiday", and hasn't been seen since. So I've been tasked with working through a rather large list. Stuff that he has already paid for. I feel so sorry for this guy.

I suppose this makes me the cavalry, turning up at the end

How's everyone finding the shopping experience now in supermarkets? Round here anyway, there are much less folk about than normal, and consequently the supermarkets are relatively dead, no queues of any description, that's for sure!

We popped into our local Lidl this morning at 9am and got everything we needed., apart from dried pasta, which we later obtained in our local Polish store. Tip: if you want dried pasta, use your local foreign-owned mini-markets, where there's no issue with stock levels!

There's a superb selection of wine just now in Lidl, which hardly anyone seems to be buying, particularly from Italy, including some nice sparkling varieties, and lovely rosé wines from Germany and France, so we picked up a load!

Anyway, hope everyone is well and coping as best as possible, and if you have a garden, get out and enjoy the lovely weather

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

In the circumstances, probably best though, mate. How's your daughter doing? Is she past her period of self-isolation yet, so she can do some shopping for you?

Defo check out the wine, and other things in Lidl, Robin. They also sell a quite superb Brie de Meaux [Deluxe range contained inside a small carton], almost as good as anything you'll get in France. We got some, along with various other cheeses, and are going to enjoy those later with a nice bottle of red!
