“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

“Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”

This should be good news for anyone worried about financial difficulty due to the effects of CV: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51982005

Who'd have thunk that a Tory government would be volunteering to pay 80% of everyone's wages?

Um but for a lot 80% is not good enough. In the real world have you seen employees cutting each others throats over an hours overtime. Ive seen it all the time, that is how desperate things get with people hence 80% aint no good. So unless its full pay people with symptoms will still go to work spreading it about.

There will always be people who don't want a Conservative government, but Boris really does seem to be working hard for the country - far better than we could have hoped for from Corbyn in my view

Certainly there will have to be some belt-tightening, but the reduced income will be offset to some degree by reduced travel costs. My van needs about £70 a week, so a bit of saving there. And will people with young kids not save on childcare costs?

Having said that, I don't know how I'll get on with it being self employed.

Nope dude, as that's not my world. As I said before, nothing is perfect, but it's still a very good gesture by the government, which folks should be availing of, in conjunction with agreeing suitable payment proposals moving forward with their mortgage companies, landlords and other creditors - and unless they're one of the country's key workers, staying at home!
