    Default Focal Electra’s

Hello there, I’ve been approached by a chap to buy my Apertura Armonia speakers, these are probably the most true sounding speakers I’ve heard, they just disappear and themusic flows from them. So, replacements?? I’m considering Focal Electra 1008 or 1028 be’s, can anyone through some light on these??

    Thanks

Excellent speakers but that does mean they will show up any problems - or lack of quality - upstream from them. Hence the unfounded reputation they have acquired for being 'bright' or 'fatiguing.'
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

I’m ok with everything in front of them, Thorens 2030/OL Encounter/ Benz Glider - Microgroove- Mastersound Duetrenta, so no worries there. Always fancied the Electras. I’ll see what happens with my Apertura’s.

    Thanks

after my 804s i wanted to upgrade to the 804diamonds . however they were a good deal more . being rather intrigued by the 1028be which were several thousand cheaper at the time i demo`ed a pair . at the same time we tried the 1008 .

the 1008 were very good , cleaner and more detailed than the 804s . my son wanted them right away . the 1028be just had a bit more depth and weigth . we bought the 1028be and they were rather good . only you can decide if you like the sound , you seem to like the apertura so i would be very very careful not to get rid of them unless you are very sure

    I’ve had both the 1008be’s & the 1028be’s.
Used with a Graaf valve amp.
I loved em. Very wide & open soundstage, detail but not fatiguing, a pretty decent bass end as well. Beautifully made & finished, very classy.
There seems to be a few Focal haters, citing an aggressive, forward presentation.
Maybe it was due to me using valves, but I never found this to be the case.
The 1028’s sound better with a fair bit of space behind them & to the sides, but if you get the set up right, I reckon they are superb.

Keep your old speakers till you have tried the focals for a few weeks then put your old ones back to see what you prefer. I heard a pair of lower ones recently and they were awful, paint stripper sound.

I used to have the 1028be’s. They can sound bright and too forward with the wrong amp. Very clean and detailed and fairly easy to drive ime.

Thanks for your input, I think the Apertura’s will stay as they are superb. I might get some Electras and try them in place of Zu Omens while I refinish them.

Those 'Aperturas' of yours are a mighty fine speaker
The Focal standmounts you tried for a while were very reasonable and not at all how i thought they might sound
