    What is pure English?
Does this take into account the Norman and Saxon invasions? The Roman occupancy of the U.K. etc.
I think the majority of people are of mixed descent if you look back far enough.
There is an interesting YouTube video with a group of people who have their DNA analysis done, with interesting results.

Geneticist Adam Rutherford believes that all humans of European descent are descendants of all Europeans who were alive a thousand years ago. So you will share common ancestry with everyone on this forum who has any European blood.

Sounds crazy I know but he does explain it convincingly in his book.

I was going to say totally English - with not a drop of Scottish blood - to annoy mrs d (who claims 50% Scottish) - but then my uncle mentioned that my great grandmother came from Scotland. Turns out that she might have been Irish though, but reportedly had red hair, so might have been Scottish. So perhaps I'm 1/8 Scottish - or Irish!
