Default Phasemation 300 obliterates Ortofon Cadenza Black

I borrowed a Phasemation 300 from Hugo a couple of days ago and have literally done nothing but played vinyl for two days. This cartridge is unreal it's bested any SPU I've owned and even my reference Ortofon Cadenza black. WOW! This little baby is at the bottom of the phasemation food chain. I'd really love to know how it compares to other Japanese exotica. I'd be intrigued to hear any comments about comparisons against Transfiguration, Miyajima carts. My eyes have been well and truly opened. I'm seriously considering moving from Denmark (ortofons) to Japan. This thing has been sitting on my Garrard 401 + SME V-12 combo. Tomorrow (or over the weekend) I'll be trialling it on the 1210 system. I seriously can't wait.

Interested to hear more when you've swapped it onto the 1210.

Nice to know that you're impressed with the PP-300 - I had a good feeling that it would be a natural partner for the SME V-12.

Yes much as I thought you would find, pleased it’s worked for you, will you be tempted to pay the extra and go for the pp500?

I’ve just got my hands on a Hana ML which also blew the Cadenza Black off the planet.
I’ve now ended my love affair with all things Ortofon. Not that there poor cartridges but just a bit too safe.

Just installed another Japanese cartridge. The Etsuro Urushi Cobalt stereo cartridge,
blows everything I've had before, Ortofon or other... AMAZING cartridge.

I would expect it too! I am beginning to think my splashing out £800 on a Classic GM SPU was decidedly low rent

I wonder just how many of the cartridges we are praising are actually made by the Excel Corporation of Japan?

Well I would certainly hope it would be at around £5K new I believe. I am reliably informed by those that know that they are absolutely superb, extracting lots of detail and very musical, I was tempted but too much for me.
