    I'm Bruce.

    Default Introduction etc.

My ID, (eddie), is derived from my middle name, (Edwin), followed by the # date of birth, (13) & the last two digits of the year, (1949).
By general definition, I would have to admit I am not an audiophile. However, I am always open to learning & expanding my level of awareness.
My two motivators are Music & People.
For the past 42 years I've worked for a small Retail Consumer Electronics Business in Northern California, USA.
I'm interested in many different musical genres & in listening to gifted players, whatever the music type.
I studied Snare Drum specifically & percussion in general from 3rd Grade through my Sophomore year in college. I tried to practice at least one hour per day.
I'm a bit shy about listing my system components, since they are definitely not audiophile caliber. For instance, my Power Amp. is an Adcom GFA-555.
Hopefully this forum will allow me to meet some interesting people & learn more about Music & quality equipment in general.

    Hi and welcome,

It doesn’t matter what equipment you have, if you enjoy music it’s all good.

    Beware of upgraditis and temptation.......lol

    Oh 1949 was a great year......me too.

    Hi Gary,

    Thanks for your welcome.

For now I will look around & read various threads.

Do you have any recommendations as starting points ?

I've been listening to a lot of Bill Evans recently.

    Regards,

    Bruce

    Hi Bruce,

I find music choices quite personal, one mans meat etc.... most Jazz leaves me cold....however I can appreciate talent.

I’ll give you some left field stuff to try,

    Fantastic Negritto

    Tinariwen

    Probably more mainstream....Muse.

I’m not precious about music choice, so if these are not to your liking worth experimenting though

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Gary,

I'm going to check all those out, since I like discovery.

Muse is the only one I have heard of previously.

    Thanks.
