    Default Greetings from Sheffield

    Hello,

Brand new to the forum. wanting to learn and make friends.

Running a system of Monitor Audio GR60s bi-amped by a pair of Naim 150X, joined to a Tag Mclaren PA20 and sourced by a Novafidelity X40/ AH! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 CD player (don't worry - nobody has ever heard of it).

An old system put together on a budget but it has some merits. I listen to electronic and classical music.

Welcome Evie. Ahhhh....the CD player with a valve output. When I Googled the MA GR60s it came up with your blog from 2011/2012.

Have you any plans to upgrade any of your kit?

    Hi,

I want to upgrade my system but the issue is money; also time to enjoy it properly and justify the expense.

I have had a few upgrades since 2012 - the Naims replaced an Audiolab 800X7, the Tag Mclaren replaced a Conrad Johnson PVL14 (I know! - But the noise floor was really high and it ate valves like there was no tomorrow. The quoted service cost was £600 and i bought it for £850 plus my partner wasn't happy with it so...

I had forgotten I had written all that stuff back in 2011/2012. It was supposed to be a creative outlet but I ran out of time/ momentum.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
