Default Ansar Supersound Audio Polypropylene Caps

Anyone tried Ansar Supersound Audio Polypropylene Caps?

I'm told polypropylene are best in the coupling position.

I've just ordered some to replace the coupling caps in my pre-amp. My preamp has "screw on" coupling caps so no soldering required (until I decide on the permanent ones).
Not much wrong with the Obligato Gold ones in there at the moment (in fact they might well be better than the Ansar's) but as they're cheap it'll be fun to try.

Any other recommendations welcome of course.

HiFi Collective sell dozens of brands of exotic capacitors.

Ansar make good capacitors but the Obligato ones you already have are considered better.

    Thanks for those Mark,

I had literally just made my way through that capacitor test. Hat's off to that man!

Indeed it was just that they are considered rather good and cheap enough to try, who knows they might be better in my preamp.

Anything else around that price range (or maybe slightly above) that would be a worthy upgrade?

I know the Obligato's are popular with good reason but I can't resist a "tweak"!!

I used to use them all the time. Sellers usually have their name put on them. i used to get them from Cricklewood Electronics they have the Ansar Supersound printed on them..

Ansar used to do Dual Caps for Tube amp power supplies.. I did a complete Leak Stereo 20 in Ansars

No idea of the values needed but I have just fitted Russian PETP K73-16 caps for coupling duties in my phono pre and my speaker crosSovers. Very impressed after a couple of months running-in. Dead cheap but limited values available.

I recently used them in a KT88 amp and they sounded exceptionally transparent yet balanced. This was without any burn in. I liked them...

So I've fitted the Ansar caps in my pre-amp.

Initial impressions were a bit dull and flat compared to the obligatos they have replaced. As implied by others to be fair.

However, I've given them a few more hours (whilst reading up on what coupling caps actually do) and they have really opened up. Not like a tube exactly but the sound has become more focused.

They have added an immediacy and possibly some clarity from what I can tell. A bit like going from tubes to ss.

Happy with my relatively cheap experiment so far.
