    Default Kef 104/2

I have just finished fixing up a pair of kef 104/2.

Surprisingly straight forward if you choose the right model.

    The donuts were a doddle.
As was replacing the tweeters with morel mdt29-4 from the states.
The only mod to the cabinet was removing a countersunk nut, drilling the hole slightly deeper, and reinserting the nut.

This is my third pair, and with the morels may be the best, though with 10 years covering the 3 pairs, who knows for sure.

They sound superb, and are a bargain at current prices.

With an onkyo a9010 they are excellent.

I have a Lentek integrated on it's way.
That will be very interesting as supposedly an excellent match for the kefs.

    Definitely reccomended.

They are usually straight forward if you buy the single wire model (with rubber surrounds on the bass drivers). However, once the base refused to budge even with some force and the hair dryer trick. I can't remember what I did in the end I might have given up on that pair.

For info, i was told there were 3 versions as far as crossovers.

So, i think the 3 versions are -

    1) 3 separate crossovers.
    Single wire version.
Rubber bass surrounds and foam donuts.

I think this version does not have a black plastic ring for the front port
surround by veneered wood like the others.
Instead the area around the port is all black plastic.

    2) Single crossover on the back panel.
    Single wire version.
Rubber bass surrounds and foam donuts.

    3) Single crossover on the on the base cover.
    Bi wire version.
Foam bass surrounds as well as donuts.

I have the 2nd version and the base opened easily.

I have also had the first version, but never opened them up.

Well, i have now had plenty of time listening to the kef 104/2 with the lentek integrated.

I am not one for reviewing gear or noticing subtle differences in presentation or tone.
All i can say is i am very pleased.
The lentek really is a luvly amplifier.
    Not fatiguing in any way.
To my ears, smooth and musical.
    Good controlled bass.

The lentek is also a thing of beauty to look at and touch/use.
Certainly the most solid piece of gear i have had.
    Quality.

And plenty of playing to be done with it`s pre in and pre out.

The more i listen the more i like it/this comibination.

    I'm a happy bunny.

I am delighted that you are happy with your system. I thought this a magnificent combination and the strength of the Lentek's bass control really matched the Kefs so well. Congratulations.
