Jolida JD-5T valve preamp - low gain 10dB & upgraded

Only owned for a few weeks. I bought it as an experiment for pre/power combo vs my integrated. I bought it new as Jolida have liquidated their stocks for their new Black Ice Audio kit fully coming to market. So this could one of the last times you could get your hands on one.

So I’m keeping the integrated.

As this unit is a few weeks old it looks like new as a result and is still burning in. It is not standard by a long way - upgrades listed below. As such it does sound lovely and is a bargain.

Runs two 12AX7 tubes
10dB gain
Remote volume control
2 sets of RCA outputs
Frequency response 10Hz-70Hz
Slim profile

Upgrades:
• I bought some gold knobs for a different look but the originals will be included (and attached when shipped). Photos of both below.

• IEC is now a Furutech Gold type with a Synergistic Research SR20 fuse.

• Tubes are now Raytheon CK5755 with adaptors. Original new issue TungSol 12AX7 tubes will also be supplied but the Raytheon’s are MILES better.

• Output capacitors now Modwright film in oil types.

• Sound Coat chassis dampening.

• Power supply jumper removed and soldered instead (for the U.K./US mains conversion).

• All electrolytic capacitors removed and upgraded to Mundorf, Nichicon and Audio Note and a key cap bypassed with a film cap.

Sounds ace and looks good too.

I have three heavily upgraded Jolida / Black Ice Audio components from Robert. All are dramatically better than the standard offerings in every way. His workmanship is top notch and his knowledge of component sonic characteristics is second to none. In fact, probably unique. Top chap to deal with too. So, buy with total confidence of product and service.
