I'm intrigued by your dismissal of Harbeth Mark, why exactly?

    Default Modest ambitions?

At the moment I am using my favourite speakers (so far) a 1972 pair of Spendor BC1 - no mods. They are very musical and I just love the rhythm they can convey (listen to Santana or Buena Vista Social Club without moving - I dare you). If their newer speakers are better then they must be something very special.
Previously I have used KEF Reference 104ab and B&W DM2a speakers (can you see a theme here?)
I also was impressed by a pair of Mission 753 speakers that a friend had a long time ago. Or Gale GS401.....
The most impressive speakers I have heard (a long time ago) were a pair of AMCRON (Crown of America) ELS speakers. I'd love to try them again or a pair of B&W DM70. Is anyone still using them?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

The tad cr1 in the aos gallery certainly look the business. My end game speaker would probably be top of the range verity audio as they are beautifully built, flexible and sound so natural.
