    Default Your Forever Endgame Speaker?

If I won some money, even if it's just 5-8k. My last ever speaker, will be the new JBL L100 Classics. If not JBL's. Then the Harbeth SHL5. The original model, not the plus.

    How about you lot?

For me it would be the Graham Audio LS5/9. Loved them every time I've heard them.

If we're allowed a second - Fujitsu TD712z. I love my TD512 speakers, and would love to replace them with this model.

My endgame speaker? Well actually I'd have a pair .

JBL's and Harbeths are about as different from each other as it's possible to get Shane.

As for mine, I guess I'd have to build them myself, as they can't be bought. I'd probably go for serviced (by me) Tannoy HPD 295A drivers in 1/4 wave transmission line cabiniets.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Indeed. But I can happily live with either.

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Marten Coltrane 3 perhaps

    ——————-

I recently heard the Marten Bird 2 and it really was excellent - if the Coltrane is better then I’m happy!

I think that the speaker/room interaction needs to be taken into consideration, so an endgame speaker is only possible with an endgame room....

Yeah, I nearly added that I would also have to move the whole system to a different room - but I guess that’s not really what the spirit of the thread is about?

I think I have them, Anthony Gallo Ref 3.5s

There may be better out there, but they give me zero cabinet colouration, fantastic imaging, soundstaging and as close to full range in a small room as I think I can get.

Harbeth SHL5 still my favourite speaker I have listened to so far. My Spendor SP1's though are not too dissimilar, and will remain until I win the lottery, though they've been in storage for over 18 months. Should be getting them back in use in the New Year, can't wait.
