    Isn't it a passive?

its a passive and an active , great fun for playing with . i have the valve one [old type freya]

    from the blurb

Schiit Freya S is a Balanced Passive or Active Pre amp with Remote Control
Schiit Freya S is, quite simply, a solid-state Freya+. Like Freya+, it’s a true no-excuses, balanced, remote-control preamp! Switch between passive mode and Nexus™ differential gain stage, enjoy the fine control of a 128-step relay-switched stepped attenuator volume control with perfect channel matching, and control it all from the comfort of your favorite chair.
ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven

Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down

Been enjoying your Schiit work ( had to get that in ) on the other forum as well Phil... hmmm interesting and plenty to ponder on. Never had a passive before and the temptation to try one certainly appeals.
The Freya seems very flexible and the balanced connection is an added bonus. Also thinking about the Tisbury at a nice price with not much to lose.
Just to mention TNT Audio say on a review of these nu force monos that the important factor on what preamp to use is the noise/ signal ratio. Not researched what that actually means ? lol, anybody ?
Reviews I know can often be taken with a pinch of salt !.Thanks again.

For some reason the freya was no brilliant with my class d mono,s . In passive form , it was brilliant with the firebottle monos but not these class d . Afraid to say the active bel canto pre 3 vbs went back in pronto .

That's what I found a few years ago:active was best and valve pre absolutely best combo
