What on earth are you on about? I have read it properly. You wrote this earlier, after replying to me when I'd asked if your comments were meant to be funny:

On the subject of bigots, perhaps you should understand what a word means before you use it

    bigot
    noun [ C ] disapproving
    UK /ˈbɪɡ.ət/ US /ˈbɪɡ.ət/

a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who does not like other people who have different beliefs or a different way of life:

Your recent comments suggest you're pretty intolerant of people with different beliefs to your own

No, I'm intolerant of people who are outwardly bigots, and which you've just shown yourself up as. The very clear anti-Scottish remarks you made about Sturgeon fit the description of "bigot" you posted perfectly, so you're no longer welcome here.

I'm referring to the contents of the middle of my sentence, which contained the remarks therein. In any case, regardless of that, your "whining" comments about Sturgeon suggest the same, and demonstrate similar intolerance, so it matters not.

Marco I've heard a lot of anti Scottish rhetoric in recent months from many friends where I I live, I'm starting to think we are a truly disunited Kingdom, everything has become so toxic, I have friends who are very far left who feel so bitter, some Scottish friends who are also very bitter.

I can't see how we can unite again with a shift away from the dup in Northern Ireland going on also.

What about the next labour leader? Long Bailey, Thornbury and Rayner would be disastrous IMHO.
Nandy or Phillips would be my choice though I'd prefer Cooper but she's got no chance? Starmer would be good but no GE winner.

Nandy would be my bet if the labour party are prepared to go female.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I like her, but I'm not sure she can win with the momentum grip on the party?

Laobour should elect Diane Abbott as leader and then hang a 'closed' sign in the window.

Sounds promising Marco - get on top of the weight problem and you should be good to go ...

I managed it - got down from 'overweight' to within BMI since I retired (and feeling the benefit)
