    Default Headshell Identification

Hello everyone, I have found this lurking in a box and was wondering if anyone can identify the maker perhaps.
It's alloy and made in Japan. Seems quite good quality. I was thinking ADC perhaps....

No, it's a cheapo and not ADC.

Thanks, I've worked it out to be a Technics SH-98 from the 1970's.

It's a Technics headshell from the early 70s (pre-mk2 era). If you search for catalog images of SL-1100 and SL-1200 mk1, you will inevitably see it.

It's definitely not a cheapo headshell, it's die cast magnesium.

When you compare the construction of that to the solidity of an ADC, which cost £5 back in the day, it's certainly not high quality.

Also used to get a "free" head shell (LMG1?) with the ADC XLM (MK ii ?) - great deal, and I still miss that cartridge (still have the head shell though)

Back in the good ol' days, we used to buy ADC LMG1 in trays of 100 and Audio Technica AT95E, to give away with every turntable sale.
