Why would you have a meter that’s “smart”, it’s a meter that tells you how much of a product you are using. It’s up to you to make any changes. So “smart” is getting youto do something?
Its “smart” though to enable suppliers to change costs at will.

They're not smart at all. Apparently, 30% of those who have installed a 'smart meter' are dissatisfied. They don't save you anything but are often responsible for incorrect bills, not sending readings at all and you are often not able to switch supplier.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

My supplier sent me a letter asking for a suitable date to install a 'smart meter'. It went straight in the bin. I've read about too many disasters to have one installed. I would imagine, that in the end we all will be forced to have one and suffer the consequences.
Same here, apparently no one has refused one so far lol, mention big brother, hacking and its goes very quiet at the end end of the phone!

I've had a ''smart'' meter for four years and so far I've saved zilch. Probably cos it's turned off.

Ask them if it's a 4G, 5G, 6G etc device and how close it's safe to be near it long term. They won't want to answer that.
