    Default Hi I'm Daz

    Hi,
I'm Daz, a 24 year old audio nut. Anyone who frequents Audiokarma is likely aware that I run a business flipping audio gear I get from various house clearance and recycling sources and have amassed quite a collection of high end stuff over the past 8 or so years of business. I'm now at a stage where I no longer wish to have piles of gear and simply want to build my main system comprising of Wilson Audio Witt speakers, NRG Control A401M monoblocks (50kg each, designed for use with the big Apogee amp killer speakers and capable of an incredible 1400W each in to sub 1 ohm loads, however they need to be repaired) A Sony TTS3000 motor unit in a 20kg custom plinth with a PUA286 tonearm and Shure V15, Revox B226 CD player, Sony TC880 Reel to Reel and eventually a Nakamichi 680zx cassette deck. Originally wanted to use a JVC JP-V1000 Pre amp however after more than 30 hours of work i've failed to repair the intermittent channel and just purchased an Accuphase C202 off ebay so will need a phono stage too. I've also built a collection of around 8-10000 records which I look forward to finally being able to enjoy on a good system.

Hopefully this forum will allow me to source the handful of components i'm looking for to achieve my goal.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Welcome to AoS Darius,

You have some fine equipment there: the TTS3000 was one of the best belt drive TTs available.

8 - 10,000 LPs! If played continuously it would take about seven and a half months! What are your tastes in music?

    Enjoy the Forum

Is that random 8000 LPs from house clearances or built up from buying the ones you want? I'd the latter that's quite an achievement, I had about 500 at your age and it's remained the same since! Are you the seller I see on Gumtree regularly?

    Hello Daz. Welcome to AOS.

There's some good knowledge here, so you should get opinions on any equipment you use.

Look through the site and you'll find every aspect of Hi-Fi is covered.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

At one point I had over 20 thousand acquired from house clearances and various other sources, after filling a full luton van with the worthless stuff i'm left with 8-10k of the gooduns, a handful i've purchased individually but the majority are from acquiring large collections. Every genre you can imagine, I personally collect reggae/dubplates, Afrofunk, Indian soundtracks but have everything from 90's Jungle, 80's jazzfunk, 60's rock all the way through to mid 2000's electronic music (a huge quantity of which supposedly came from the bins of world famous music studio in London) Even have a bunch of Bob Dylan and Fleetwood Mac acetates from CBS studios.

I agree the TTS3000 is one of the best decks i've owned, previously used a Technics SL1400MK2 for quite a few years as nothing I found came close to that till I found the Sony(apart from a Lenco l75 with a Helios tonearm from a QED turntable that I threw together and will build in to a new plinth eventually for playing a few 78's I have). The factory plinth was rubbish so i'm hoping the new one will be a significant improvement. I also want an EMT 938 and a Technics SP10 but finding the right ones for a good price is a waiting game.

Music taste ranges from dub reggae, jazz funk, 90's house and trance all the way to classical and world music (70's afro funk for example)
