Default SRM/TECH & Hudson's Hifi Acrylic Platter Mat.

Has anyone tried either of the above? I'd like to try an acrylic platter but the Achromat is a bit pricey at the moment.

I tried one. It's worth a try though I ended up preferring the rubber mat, and eventually bought the Oyaide rubber mat which was much better, best of the lot that I tried, but have since sold my 1210.

I’ve been using an acrylic platter mat for a number of years and have found it to work very well on a variety of different turntables, I’ve found that when it replaces a felt mat you get the most noticeable improvement, I currently use it on my 2016 Rega Planar 3, compared to the standard Rega wool mat it gives tighter and more punchy bass and better image focus. I use it with an Origin live mat underneath it, for 2 reasons, putting a smooth acrylic mat on glass there’s the possibility of slippage with the tiny air film between them, the other reason is to replicate the original mat thickness so the VTA is not affected. I also use mine in conjunction with a Michell Record clamp and a rubber spindle washer to keep dished and warped records properly in contact with the mat.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning toward the Hudson's Hifi.

I managed to get a black 3mm used FF Achromat on eBay for £40 inc p&p.

I use the Hudson HI FI acrylic mat on my 1200, I like it better than rubber. It doesn't deaden the sound as much as the rubber mat.
