    Default Reiver acoustic Henley

Purchased a pair of Reiver acoustic Henleys last week off one of the members here.

Sales thread has good quality pictures for reference.

Transaction with Andrew was a pleasure shipped professionally-packed to withstand a nuclear strike.

They are stunning in the flesh, as always Colin Topps wood work is nothing short of excellent.

Initially tried them in my front room av/hi fi set up-firing down a long room.

The ousted a pair of spendor sp1s ( tq claymore/seg/dorado/chrome cast audio/4k lg/4k sony player)

They are downward firing port wise so not really fussy placement wise.

Much smaller boxes than the spendors, so less attack/slam but a midrange to die for and beautifull smooth treble.

    Imaging and soundstage are outstanding.

Couldnt trip them with genre but maybe not ideal for heavy rock.

Had a great evening with my wife and son just playing tunes, we loved them.

Sunday swapped out my Reiver acoustic SRs in my listening room-another tq/ewa m50/innous server.

I have 57s that Colin built the stands and reinforced the frames.

The Henleys do midrange very similar to 57s with added bass.

They really are something special for the size and ease of placement.

For a smaller listening room they would be perfect-not too hard to drive either.

Very similar in sonic signiture to quad statics and spendors-more about listening to music than hifi.

    They are keepers......

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

My marbles are definitely deserting me...

Started reading this glowing report and my first thought was "He clearly loves these speakers, so why on earth is he selling them already? He's only had 'em a week". Then I realised I wasn't on 'Private Exhibitions'

They do look very nice Tony

Swapped out my sons Frugels with super tweeters firing vertically at the rear into his system.

    Croft power/pimped seg/tisbury pre.

Very resolved system- he has to listen near field due to limited space.

The Henleys worked superbly in that configuration.

The ribbon tweeter and bigger bass driver just add more frequency extremes, the downward firing port makes placement really easy.

My son had his mate round the other night for a listen, reckoned they trumped the frugels.

Im delighted at just how rounded they are-the valve loveliness the croft amp brought was quite beguiling.
