I'm having a bit of a system change around and downsize, so have decided to sell my EAR 861 power amplifier. These are pretty rare and well regarded (it was a big improvement over the 890 I had previously) - it's a lovely thing. I've had this one for around 12 months and bought it from a PFM forum member.
The previous owner had it serviced by EAR in February 2017 and bought a new shipping box and replaced the chrome fascia in March 2017. Most importantly, he bought and fitted a quad of NOS Philips Triple Mica EL519 valves in November 2017 at (a cost of $550 + import duties). These were apparently much better than the original TdP valves. I've got receipts to show all this and these will be included with the amp.
Condition of the amplifier is very, very good. You can see polishing swirls on the case if you shine the light in the right direction, but only significant issues I can see are a couple of tiny pin size marks on one of the rear transformer covers and a scratch on the rear near the speaker posts - both shown below.
I've got the shipping boxes, but this thing weighs a lot (I'd estimate £25-£30Kg), so collection from just south of Coventry in West Midlands preferred. I am happy to travel up to 100 mile radius from the Coventry area to help with delivery for a small contribution to petrol costs. If you do want to have it shipped, I'm happy to do that, but it will be at buyers risk entirely.
£2,650 to AoS members.
